Unique jazz record inside a unique piano

IDEA: Integrate and record a music score inside a music instrument.

WHAT: A Steinway Spirio pianola (self-playing piano), with an integrated laser-guided system that measures the velocity and pressure of each keystroke, plays a unique work composed and recorded on this actual piano by Robert Glasper, titles ‘Apollo/Still Shining’ The piano is decorated by the Los Angeles artist Mark Bradford. The unique object is due to be auctioned (with an estimate of $400,000 to $600,000) during Christie’s Post-war and contemporary art day sale in New York on 11 May.

WHY: An original composition turned into a unique artefact. The music is inseparable from the physical artwork and its environment.
